Tanusree Shankar Dance Company

An overview

At the Tanusree Shankar Dance Company, we focus on our role as ambassadors of our unique dance style that connects geographies and cultures seamlessly. We do this through an ever-expanding repertory company that is proud of its diligent and dedicated dancers.

Our Core Objective

We aim to:

  • Foster a deep appreciation for dance, and for bridging traditional classical techniques with contemporary expressions
  • Grow the all-round development of artistes as skilled performers, teachers and choreographers
  • Create a platform for dancers to explore their potential, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the cultural landscape
  • Further a modern idiom created by marrying traditional Indian dances with modern western ballet expressions, while showcasing Indian classical dance as well as our folk and regional dance forms
  • Combine rigorous training with creativity
  • Cultivate a new generation of skilled, versatile artistes who can carry forward the Uday Shankar legacy

Through performances, workshops, and collaborations, the repertory also seeks to promote dance as a powerful medium of storytelling and expression, both locally and internationally.
